Things to Do 2022

There is no shortage of things to do in our area if you’re looking to get outdoors and enjoy some spectacular Florida nature. I did a post about this back in 2019. https://rhphotoadventures.com/2019/03/06/what-is-there-to-do/ I’ve since discovered a lot of new resources to find places to explore.

The CREW Land and Water Trust https://crewtrust.org/ oversees and preserves land around the 60,000 acre Corkscrew Regional Ecosystem Watershed. These areas are among some of my favorite, including Bird Rookery Swamp.

Sarasota County is home to over 50,000 acres of preserved natural lands. https://www.scgov.net/government/parks-recreation-and-natural-resources/find-a-park/natural-areas-and-nature-centers Among my favorites are Big Slough and Myakkahatchee Creek, but there are many other excellent places to explore here.

White-tailed Deer

Charlotte County Parks and Natural Resources manages thousands of acres of amazing land as well, including some hidden gems like Ollie’s Pond and Shell Creek. As with Sarasota, there are kayak destinations here as well as wonderful hiking opportunities. https://www.charlottecountyfl.gov/core/fileparse.php/409/urlt/environmental-parks-preserves-guide.pdf

If it’s a botanical garden you’re looking for, check out https://ahsgardening.org/gardening-programs/rap/ to find one near you.

Once you’ve exhausted all of the above options, check out AllTrails to find a huge variety of trails all over the world, not just here in Southwest Florida. https://www.alltrails.com/

This should be enough to keep you exploring for awhile! Happy adventuring!
