What’s the difference between a hike and a photo walk? A hike is more for exercise, and a photo walk is more about stopping and enjoying the sights along the way. Photo walks are slow. Hikes are only as fast as our slowest participant. And a nature walk is an entirely different animal where we stop and talk about pretty much everything we see along the way. Each is wonderful in its own way! In addition to these, we offer private hikes, which can be any combination of the above.

Hikes

Hikes can be anywhere from 1-15 miles and are intended to get you out and moving. Our pace is pretty moderate, but we will never go faster than our slowest hiker. For these, we always have a person in front and a person in the back. We’ll stop for snacks and sips of water along the way. It’s Florida, so really none of our hikes will be too crazy. We do offer wet hikes from time to time, through Big Cypress and other locations. These are quite adventurous!

Photo Walks

These are intended to be slow. If you’re the type of person who gets annoyed when people stop to look at every flower or mushroom or leaf, this probably isn’t the adventure for you. These are good for any kind of photographer, no matter if you’re using a big fancy camera or just your phone. These adventures are also great for birders as we stop to listen and check out all of the wildlife we come across. These are intended for very patient participants.

Nature Walks

Nature walks are where you’ll learn what those plants and animals you see around the neighborhood are. We’ll work together, using some cool apps on our phones, to identify as much as we can. These are also slow walks, but they’re a lot of fun! We recommend the iNaturalist app and the Merlin app from Cornell.

Private Hikes

These can be anything you want them to be! We can do a hike, a photo walk, a nature walk, or any combination of the three. I also offer guided overnight hikes! Whatever you’re looking for, just talk to me and we’ll make it work. Have company coming in to town? These are fantastic for getting your out-of-state friends out and experiencing the real Florida.
